GREAT SKIN IN TWO WEEKS!

There is always something going on with our skin, it tells us so much about our health and how we are feeling. As the largest organ on our bodies skin health is optimised by our diet, skincare routine, exercise choices and sleeping patterns. I have a list of great all over healthy choices that will get your skin looking and feeling great as well as your overall general well being!

Add more water!

Water is our body’s best friend! Water increases the production of new blood and muscle cells; kick starts our metabolism, helps us absorb nutrients, clears out toxins, balances our lymph system and keeps us hydrated! Dehydration causes dryness and sallow looking skin. Try carrying a water bottle with you throughout the day and adding a squeeze of fresh lemon for a Vitamin C boost!

 Cut the crap!

Sugar and fast food is our enemy! Full of processed fats, sugars and excess sodium these can cause inflammation in the body and skin. Cutting out the excess sugar, salt and unhealthy fats are the best way to see healthy changes in your skin and body!

 Eat a rainbow!

Fill your plate with fresh low sugar fruit and leafy green veggies, fish and healthy fats. These foods have nourishing ingredients for our bodies that won’t cause breakouts. Berries and citrus fruits are full of antioxidants that will fight free radicals that cause aging, spinach, kale, sweet potatoes carrots are great sources of beta-carotene that fight breakouts, dehydration, wrinkles, redness, unevenness, acne and give your skin a healthy glow!

 

 

 

 

 Healthy fats!

Our skin cells need some fats to function effectively. All our cell membranes are made up of a mixture of fats and proteins so by consuming plenty of omega-3 fats and healthy oils we are helping our cell membranes retain water and nutrients and remain hydrated and our skin glowing! Plant passed, raw fat sources such as avocado, cold-pressed coconut oil, olive oil, and flaxseed and hemp seed oil are great! Add hemp, chia and flaxseeds to meals or smoothies or snacking on raw almonds, pumpkin and sunflower seed are also a great way to add to your healthy fat diet!

We all are lacking sleep these days but hitting the sack a little earlier can help your skin and all over health dramatically! At a minimum we need at least 7-8 hours of sleep. Rest will give you great skin and energy levels quickly! It will also keep you energised and motivated throughout the day!

 Keep it gentle!

I’m loving yoga right now! It creates an essential blood flow through your body and lymph system. It is a great stress relief and most classes have meditation incorporated, if Yoga is not your thing, a nice walk outdoors or a gentle swim can do the same. High intensity workouts can cause excess cortisol which is a hormone that can trigger stress, less stress means better skin! If your one to hit the gym hard, add half an hour of slow stretching and meditation to relax you after that spin class!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Get into a routine!

Your skin care routine can be simple, as long as you have one!  Wash your face every night, even if you didn’t wear makeup. Everyday pollutants, sweat and dead skin cells need to be removed to stop breakouts. Cleanse, scrub and moisturise! Cleanse away the crap; exfoliate the dead skin cells and clear pores and hydrate! Use an SPF daily to protect skin from free radicals that break down collagen and cause pigmentation. You want products full of quality ingredients such as antioxidants and vitamins that will feed your skin! Every skin is different so you want something suited for you individually!
